About Bearitz

Thank you for taking the time to visit, my name is Janice Davidson the artist behind Bearitz.

I have been designing and creating one of a kind handmade collectable teddy bears for over ten years and I am lucky to be based in the beautiful Perthshire countryside in Scotland.

A friend introduced me to my first artist bear and I was soon hooked buying mohair, magazines and tools. From the outset I created my own patterns, preferring to make contemporary style teddy bears with long necks and big feet. As the years have gone by I now find great pleasure in designing all kinds of bears, having gained the necessary skills and experience to do the traditional teddy bear justice. I hope their quirky style shows their zany personality, these bears just want to have fun!

Bearitz collectable bears are handmade using the finest quality fabrics. I prefer to work with German mohair and alpaca from Steiff Schulte or Helmbold. Sometimes I will hand dye the mohair for a wider choice of colour.

For the paw pads I use ultrasuede, leather and velvet. Every nose is hand stitched and it is only then that each teddy bear develops his or her own character. The bears are weighted with a little steel shot in their tummies and they vary in size from miniature 3” (8cm) to the larger 27” (67cm). All of my one of a kind bears are marked 1/1 and each is accompanied with a signed certificate of authenticity.

I have also designed for Deans Bears (the oldest UK teddy bear manufacturer) and Compton and Woodhouse. I feel very privileged that my bears travel, finding new homes all over the world. What stories they could tell?

The website is updated regularly, please join my newsletter mailing list for details of the latest bears available. Be sure to save me in your favourites and visit again soon.

Big Hugs!
